Vault Keeper

A local, encrypted password manager. No accounts, no cloud sync, no tracking — your vault stays on your own machine.

Overview

Vault Keeper stores your passwords in a single encrypted file on disk. There's no server, no internet connection required, and no third party ever sees your data. You're in full control of your vault.

Security

- PBKDF2 (480,000 iterations) + Fernet (AES) encryption for all stored data

- Master password verification that never exposes vault contents on a failed attempt

- Clipboard auto-clear after copying a password, so it doesn't linger for other apps to read

- Auto-logout on inactivity, so an unattended, unlocked session doesn't stay open indefinitely

- Automatic backup file (`vault.bak`), with automatic restoration if the main vault file is found corrupted or missing

- Password management — add, edit, delete, search, and sort your saved entries

- Password generator with configurable length and character sets (uppercase, lowercase, digits, special characters)

- Export to HTML — a clean, readable, printable report of your vault

- Change master password at any time, re-encrypting the entire vault in place
